The camp was started in late 1943 and disbanded in 1946. Most of the prisoners spoke German with a few who could speak English. They built tables, mounted animals, painted, turpentined, stacked peanuts, and helped farmers. "The farmers didn't pay the prisoners directly, but they normally gave them money for cigarettes and other things.
