Dear Mr. Tison:

In reply to your letter of April 5, 1934 notifying me of my reelection as High School and seventh grade teacher for the term 1934-35, I am hereby sending in my acceptance with the understanding that I shall receive the salary of a High School teacher if I satisfactorily complete my work for a degree at the end of the summer quarter.

My delay in accepting has not been due to lack of interest but owing to some Conversations with Dr. McKenzie and Mr. Todd and having my credits finally validated.

Very truly yours,

Dear Sirs,

I do not know what changes you are contemplating making in the ensuing school year, but if you are going to elect a new Superintendent or other teacher, I would be glad to have you consider my application.

I could furnish you recommendations upon request, but I'd much rather you would write concerning me to my Board of Trustees who are Messrs. N.L. DuPant, Chm., L.B. McFadden, Sec., and L.B. Gillespiie.

There are people in your city whom I know and with whom I would like to be. They are not relatives of mine, but are excellent friends.

My entire educate experience of six years has been largely in a special way with boys. I love all children and more especially those of school age. Boy Scouting has been always one of my hobbies and work that helps to build communities is especially interesting to me.

Hoping to hear from you soon

Yours Very Truly
E.M. Wharton

Mr. K.P. Baker.
Ashburn, Georgia.

Dear Mr. Baker,
I wish to apply for a position as teacher in your school for the coming year.
I prefer beginners work as my training and teaching in college has been along this line, but am capable of teaching the first five grades.
I am inclosing my qualifications and a recommendation from my high school teacher.
I will appreciate being considered. If I am, I will assure you of my very best cooperation and efforts to make a successful teacher in your school.

Thanking you,
Yours truly
(Miss) Clarette Bessent

It was designed by Macon architect P.E. Dennis. He had his hand in designing many Turner County beloved buildings such as the Methodist Church and the Courthouse. It was completed in 1897. The house was built with local heart pine. Per the local newspaper, The Ashburn Advance, the cost of the home was ~$6000. (Ashburn Advance, 7/6/1897)</text>
