<text>On November 5, 2024, The Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce organized a community cleanup day. Volunteers dedicated themselves to revitalizing the Fire Ant Express Caboose. The project received an enthusiastic boost from a group of students from the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC). These students worked tirelessly, scrubbing and repainting the train to restore its former glory.

A special thank-you goes to Benjie Barbee for generously providing power and water for the pressure washing. Benjie also volunteered to repaint the iconic ant logo on the train—an essential part of its charm. Sami Mastrario deserves recognition for her meticulous work on the intricate details along the train's sides, a task that required great patience and precision.

The restoration was made possible through the dedication of volunteers, including Josue Beltran, Jair Baltazar, Jennifer Perez, Joncarlo Velasco, and Yareli and Mayra Contreras. Their hard work, combined with community support, has ensured that the Fireant Express remains a cherished local landmark.

<text>Held the fourth weekend of March, small-town Ashburn welcomes visitors to the Fire Ant Festival, but not the ants themselves. Known for its wacky and off-the-wall activities, the festival offers family-oriented fun for all ages. Activities include the fire ant calling contest, the giant fire ant maze, carnival, arts and crafts, fireworks, bands, 5K run and 1-mile fun run, BBQ cook-off, and much more!

The first building built by the church and remained the place of worship until 1903, when a new larger wooden building was built on McLendon St. The new building had two wings and 3 balconies. In 1956 this building was replaced by the current brick building which has one balcony and seated around 450.

The orginal building later became the Wesleyan Methodist Church. It was located at the corner of south Gordon St and east Madison Ave. This is where the storage buildings are now located.

The Baptist held their first meeting under the mill shed of the J.S. Betts Company in August 1889 in the town of Marion, which later became Ashburn. A tree had not been milled at this time. The property for the first building was donated by Mr and Mrs. W W Ashburn. The congregation meet in the school house until that first building was complete. The building was heated by a coal stove and lighted by oil lights. The first musical instrument was a pump organ.</text>
