Dear Miss Nora:
I've just learned from home that my subscription to the 'Wiregrass' has been renewed and thanks to you, I'll continue to look forward to getting the news from home.

I'll assure you, during these 21 months overseas, my paper has been one of my main sources of pleasure. I read every page and every line, it's all 'news' and it comes from home. That along makes it important."

....

"I'll say again, for all the men I've worked and lived with along the way - thanks to those on the homefront- and personally, I thank the good people in Turner County who are doing such a swell job in backing us up.

My best wishes to everyone,
Respectfully yours,
A.V. Akin Jr.</text>

So. Gen. W.J. Forehand filed a petition seeking Fiveash's removal from office at the request of a grand jury which had previously indicted the sheriff on eight counts. He was acquitted on one count and two others resulted in mistrials.
Most of the indictments are covered in the petition. Trial fo the five counts remaining, which include embezzlement, extortion, and larceny after trust, was postponed.
Fiveash, who has been Turner County sheriff since 1953, was sentenced to two years in prison recently by a federal district court which found him guilty of conspiring to operate a "moonshine" liquor ring in the Cordele area."</text>
