Title
Most of Ashburn, Turner County ignore Klan March, Rally
Description
From Mayor Charles B. Perry,
"I was very proud of our city. For the most part, our people literally ignored the klansmen on the streets and at the Tabernacle. Those who were along the parade route I believe were there out of curiosity. Most had never before had an opportunity to see a member of the Ku Klux Klan."
"The klan leaders said they had come to Ashburn because they were invited by 'several area residents' who see blacks as a threat to the future of white men and women in Turner County."
