Described as the "biggest illegal liquor operation ever uncover in Turner County" by lawmen, a four-vat liquor still was demolished by Sheriff T.E. Kennedy Jr. (Thomas Evans Kennedy, 1911-1986)...
Location: Southeast corner of Turner County near the Tift County and Irwin County lines and adjacent to a branch which trails through the isolated area.
Caught at the scene:
Jack Nelson Eldridge, 27 (released on $5,000 to Roy Coker)
Earl Eugene Smith, 25 (released on $4,000 to Roy Coker)
John Wesley Hooks, 21 (remained in jail under $4,000 bond)
Also confiscated:

1960 Chrysler
"On the morning of the raid, the brand new still had just begun its first operation with its initial run, turning out 268 and 1/2 gallons in an approximate eight hour period before lawmen intervened and broke up the elaborate machinery which had a capacity to turn out as much as 500 gallons of illegal liquor a day."
"Sheriff Kennedy said 125 gallons of the illegal liquor was poured out in a mantle near the Turner County courthouse after the raid, and the raider was destroyed at the raid."
