Southeastern Peanut Festival

February 19, 2026Ashburn

Did you know that long before the Fire Ant Festival, Turner County celebrated with an annual Peanut Festival?

According to a 1967 newspaper article, the Southeastern Peanut Festival highlighted our area’s rich agricultural roots, record harvests, parades, exhibits, and community-wide events that brought people together from across the region. Peanuts weren’t just a crop—they were a source of pride and celebration for all of Turner County.

While this festival is no longer held, Turner County farmers remain avid peanut producers. Our sister city of Sylvester continues the tradition with its annual Peanut Festival, and Ashburn proudly celebrates community each year through the Annual Fire Ant Festival, a hometown tradition since 1996.
